One thing I realised early was that if I have to be fit then I have to know how unfit I am. You will not believe this but the fact is that many people who are obese would be surprised if they see themselves from the side. When you look at the mirror you mostly focus on you face and look at yourself only from the front side. But the problem is that from the front side you will not be able to see how wide you are. For that you have to see yourself from the side. Most people who are overweight would avoid looking at themselves from the side in an attempt to lie to themselves that they are still better than many, which is why it is very important to know that you are not fit, in case if you are not.

Once you know that you are unfit, the next thing you have to do is to find a way that you enjoy and that would also help you get fitter. No, don’t buy yourself running clothing yet! My personal philosophy is that if you don’t enjoy it, you won’t do it. Many people pick so many difficult ways of getting fit, including running or dieting, only to forget about in a few days. First of all, only if you do something wholeheartedly would it benefit you, so why pick up something that you don’t like anyway. Don’t go for running if you like swimming and vice versa. And if you like swimming, but don’t know how to swim, then get a coach and learn, even while you learn you will shed a few pounds.
